About

Dustho Meyeder Nirapad Ashram o Punorbashan Kendro (DMNAPK) is an independent, non-partisan, not-for-profit organization which supports underprivileged girls in Bangladesh. For over a decade the organization has been providing an enabling environment where young girls can develop their full potential and become empowered members within the community.

This ‘safe home’ was founded in 1996 by Professor Salma Chowdhury and a team of likeminded philanthropists with the vision of assisting vulnerable and orphaned girls in the country. Currently, DMNAPK supports 40 girls aged between 6 and 18 years on its campus situated on an acre of land in Bowride, Masterbari, Gazipur.

Word from our founder

My dream was to develop a safe home for girls for their security, basic education and life skills to make them empowered in future from the disadvantaged and vulnerable people. When I see these girls, they seem to be so happy and secured being in the safe home. I feel peace in my mind. I wish in future they will be self-reliant, empowered and good citizens of the country. They will uplift their life and poverty will be unable to grab them anymore. A new generation will be developed. My heartfelt thanks go out to everybody from Bangladesh and overseas who initially supported and are still supporting these girls. Without your help this project would not have materialised. “Prof Salma Chowdhury” President and Founder of DMNAPK
